Whitney Shephard, PE, LEED AP, M.ASCE
As Principal Engineer/Planner, Ms. Shephard manages projects and serves as technical lead for public policy, geographic information systems applications, demographics, land use, traffic engineering, and public transportation. She cofounded Transport Studio in 2013.
With more than twenty-five years’ experience in planning and design, Whitney has broad experience advancing healthy communities. She has recently managed regional and local government projects including transportation and land-use Master Plans, zoning reform, socioeconomic data projections, transit strategy, and subarea and long-range transportation plans. Whitney has worked in both the public and private sectors. She strives to maintain deep connections with communities impacted by infrastructure investments and policy, as well as their elected representatives.
Her passion for the built and natural environments extends beyond Transport Studio. She co-founded and owns Green Truck Neighborhood Pub, a Savannah restaurant that features local and organic farmers. With her team, she supports the local food movement and a variety of community organizations. Whitney is Policy Chair and Past President of the Georgia Planning Association and an appointed member of the American Planning Association Legislation and Policy Committee. She was a charter member of the coastal chapters of Society of Women Engineers and WTS International.
Michael D. Meyer, Ph.D., PE, F.ASCE
Dr. Michael D. Meyer cofounded Transport Studio in 2013. He is a recognized national expert in transportation planning and policy. Dr. Meyer was a professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Georgia Tech for 25 years, where he served as Director of the Georgia Transportation Institute for eight years. He was Director of Transportation Planning and Development for Massachusetts for five years, responsible for statewide planning, project development, traffic engineering, and transportation research. Dr. Meyer was also a professor in Civil Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Dr. Meyer’s interests include transportation engineering, transportation planning, environmental impact assessment, policy analysis, public works finance, public transportation, climate change, and engineering management. He has published numerous books, chapters, and articles on infrastructure planning and policy, including the college textbook for McGraw Hill entitled Urban Transportation Planning: A Decision Oriented Approach. He is an active member of Transportation Research Board, American Society of Civil Engineers, American Planning Association, and Institute of Transportation Engineers, among other professional societies.
Jeanine Roach, GISP, PLS
Jeanine Backman Roach has over 35 years of experience in diverse GIS projects concentrated in Engineering and Environmental Geography, specializing in Coastal Environments. Jeanine is a certified GISP (2008) and she was one the first Geoscientists to attain South Carolina’s Professional Land Survey licenses for GIS (2002). Jeanine has worked in both the public and private sectors. Her expertise includes GIS project management, database design, data analysis, mapping, quality assurance/quality control, and Internet GIS applications.
